NBCUniversal announced that its new televisions streaming services will be known as “Peacock”. There will be some new original shows from NBC like “Battlestar Galactica” and it will include some more programs from its directory.
NBC will be using its longtime logo for Peacock, and it is all set to be launched in April 2020. It will have a tough competition against the already popular Amazon and Netflix along with the new upcoming streaming services like Apple TV+ and Walt Disney.
There are no details revealed about the pricing of the services from the company which is a unit of Comcast.
According to a statement from NBCU, there will be a reboot of the series “Battlestar Galactic” and they will show like Parks and Recreation and The Office whose exclusive rights will be owned by Peacock.
Bonnie Hammer said the name peacock is based on the type of content audiences can enjoy on the streaming services. There will be various types of shows from cultural drams to creative and comedy series. They will also have a new unscripted show, Bravo and E! for the audience.
There will be something for every audience as it will cover the amazing moments from the Olympics to the Elections in 2020 and for the people who love classic shows can enjoy watching The Office.
The audience will get two options for watching content on Peacock, you can either get a subscription or watch ad-based option. There will be about 15,000 hours of content that will be available on the Peacock and it will also feature the 2020 Summer Olympics.
In November, Disney is also planning to launch its new streaming services named Disney+ which will be priced at $6.99 and the monthly price will be just $4.99 which is lower than Netflix.
